Sometimes I put together resource guides, “Little books of Life Advice” about things I have experience with – often a combination of lived experience and professional training. I learn new things all the time and so I regularly update my works with the latest information, so if it’s been a while since you downloaded that last guide have a peak and see if there’s a newer addition from time to time.
Domestic Abuse
Over the last ten years I’ve filled my time with education and anti-abuse projects through various organisations and in my training to become a blackbelt, which has a heavy emphasis on violence avoidance and self protection. While this guide is hefty at 28 pages, it covers a huge array of topics and types of abuse rarely covered elsewhere – including gender, housing, financial, medical, common behaviours, and grooming. Remember that anyone of any demographic can be abused, or an abuser. Unfortunately, none of us are guaranteed to get through life without being exposed to DA – quite the opposite, everyone I’ve ever known has been subjected to it and our culture is one that enables, and even rewards people who are abusive. I hope that this guide allows you the opportunity to safeguard yourself if it comes to your door. Last updated 28/01/24.
