I am an anarchist living in East Anglia, UK. I’m transmasc nonbinary, queer, and very active in my community work and activism – largely focusing on supporting any group that comes under the LGBTQIA+ banner. Creating things is my passion and I don’t restrict myself to a medium or genre, if I have something that needs to exist then I do everything I can to see it to fruition which has led me to a diverse portfolio.
Writing is my primary craft, although I also do textile, fine, and digital art. All of my work centers around activism in some way, although that varies from subtle to blatantly obvious, on topics like like human rights. I don’t believe death of the author gives a true outlook into a persons creations, as who we are, our opinions and our experiences, innately shapes our work. Divorcing the creator from the content only gives half the picture.
Once I have put work out into the public I greatly encourage fan engagement, fan art/fiction etc really helps me to know that I have reached an audience and I want people to be able to gain something emotionally from my work. Please send me your headcannons or links to your work!
I’m always eager to team up with partners, both as a independent artist and as a freelance professional, and I’m very involved with my local community as the chair of Norwich Pride’s Trans Advisory Group. I’m involved with, or run, several choirs one of which is theatre based, another pride based, and a third that’s a trans protest choir.
As an Anarchist in the truest sense of the word, I support genuine democracy, human and civil rights, and the publics right to protest for better treatment (among other things!), not a wild free for all. Anarchism as a political philosophy is about horizontal power structures instead of being under the thumb of one person or group, which leads to abuses of power.
Like many people suffering under late-stage capitalism and all it’s ills, my mental and physical health aren’t great. I try to be as honest as possible about it to promote awareness and to have pride in who I am.
Aside from that, I run a writers group which runs competitions and puts together anthologies, I design table top games under the Deep Sky game series, I make clothes and hope to have a revolutionary fashion line based on locally ought and upcycled fabrics, I’m an artists, a guitarist, and I’m a martial artist (I’m a black belt) and hope to teach my own class one day.
